Applications for the 2014 Masters Awards are now open.

Application forms and all supporting documents should be completed and submitted by14 December 2012. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications earlier than this date, if possible.

Target Group
  • You are a national of Tanzania.
  • You are an early or mid-career professional working in the Public Sector, the Private Sector or non-government organisation (Civil Society) in one of the listed priority fields of study.
  • You wish to undertake a Masters degree in Australia in one of the listed priority fields of study. You cannot study a Masters of Business Administration.
  • You have a clear vision for how you will use the knowledge gained through the Masters degree to improve policy, practice or education in the proposed field of study.

Eligibility
  • You must not be more than 50 years of age at the date of your application.
  • You must have at least three (3) years’ post-graduation work experience. This work experience must be in a role relevant to your proposed field of study and to your employment organisation type (e.g. public sector applicants should demonstrate public sector work experience, and so on). Preference will be given to candidates with greater periods of experience.
  • You possess, as a minimum, a Bachelors degree (or the equivalent). Holders of Humanities and Social Sciences degrees must have a minimum mark of at least a Second Class Upper (2:1, or “B”, or the equivalent average mark). Holders of other Sciences Degrees must have at least a Pass or the equivalent.
  • You must have a minimum English language proficiency equivalent to an overall IELTS score of 5.0 with no band score lower than 4.5. (Equivalent TOEFL scores are also accepted).  Those with overall scores of lower than 6.5 who are selected for an award will be supported to undertake between 3 and 9 months pre-course English language training and will need to achieve a score of 6.5 at the end of this training with no band score lower than 6.
  • You must not already hold, or be studying for, a Masters degree
  • You must be willing to make a formal commitment to return to your current employment following completion of the award
  • You must meet the general minimum eligibility criteria for Australian Development Scholarships (attached)
Support Service Options
  • Provision of Pre- course English on a case-by-case basis
  • Provision of course research support for short-listed candidates
  • Special needs assistance as deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis
  • Standard ADS support conditions for awardees

To submit an electronic application

    1. Register your personal details and click on “Request Application”
    2. You will receive an email asking you to confirm your details
    3. Once you have confirmed your details, the system will automatically send you an electronic application form via email
  2. The Application Form is an Acrobat document that you may save on your local computer or another device and complete offline.
  3. When you have completed your application form, email the form and all supporting documentation toapplications@adsafrica.com.au.  You may send as many emails as needed, provided you send the emails from the same email address.

AAA strongly encourages applicants to apply using this method. The correct electronic application form will be available for applicants to use in the coming weeks. In the interim, a copy of the “print version” of the form is available and will be sent to you upon request. Please read the instructions carefully and begin the process immediately to collect the relevant information and documents you will need to prepare a complete application. Hard Copy applications

  • Hard Copy applications should be couriered to the relevant AAA Office Courier Address as indicated in the application form, however applicants are encouraged to submit an electronic application.
  • In the event that you encounter problems with completing the e-form or you are unable to send the hard copy application form via courier, please scan and email your completed application form and all supporting documents toaaascan@adsafrica.org.  If you use this method of submission, please ensure that each attachment is labelled as follows: File Name_Your Name. (E.g. J Doe_Academic Transcripts)

Masters Awards 2013 Intake

Applications for the 2013 Masters Awards are now closed. We received a very large number of applications for the 380 Masters Awards available for 2013. Successful candidates are currently being contacted and places in Australian Universities are being sought for commencement in 2013 and student visa applications are being prepared for submission to the Australian Government’s Department of Immigration and Citizenship. Note also that all 2013 Masters awardees must attend a compulsory Pre-Departure Briefing in October 2012 and, for some awardees, the completion of additional English Language Training and an English test is also required. The AAA offices in Nairobi and Pretoria will provide assistance with these aspects of awardees’ placement and mobilisation in the coming months.
